Empowering Your Community To Tell Their Own Culturally Relevant Stories

How do you get authentic stories from communities? Real stories from real people have potential to be powerful catalysts for change. One of the biggest challenges is how to draw out those stories so they maintain their cultural perspective throughout the process.

This session will take a case study approach to how Healthy Native Communities Partnership, Inc., balances technology and human considerations to help real people create powerful, authentic digital stories. We will describe the participatory processes used to help digital storytellers find their voices and tell stories from their own lives. We will share the impacts of telling and sharing these powerful stories at the individual, family, and community levels.

You will view digital stories, have conversations that matter, and learn what technical and human considerations work to maximize culturally inclusive community engagement.
